CULLMAN – In order to better serve the Cullman community, The Cullman Tribune is expanding its print coverage. The Tribune will now be printed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
“The Cullman Tribune, started in 1874, is Alabama’s oldest continuously published weekly newspaper,” said Publisher Noah Galilee. “In early 2016 residents began asking for multiple days, so he we are, with a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday print schedule.”
Galilee says printing more days per week allows his crew to explore more local stories and provides the public a better, timelier source of printed news.
“Our readers will notice an uptick in local stories, something that is unique to The Cullman Tribune. Other outlets may throw in a local story here or there, but there’s a lot of Associated Press and Washington Post content. That's something we do not do at The Cullman Tribune.
“The Tribune has always been locally owned and operated. This means almost everyone at The Tribune was born, raised or moved to Cullman at a young age. A local reporter reporting on local events only makes sense because it’s his or her home, and it makes the stories that much better and more authentic.”
How much is a subscription and how to people subscribe?
“Under the old guard, it was $40 per year. Now that we are a 3-day publication the cost increases only by $35, making a one-year subscription only $75. Much better than paying $200 or more for the same type of content, with the added bonus that all of our stories are locally written.”
With the change in printing schedule also comes a change in the printing location. The Cullman Tribune is now printed by The Daily Mountain Eagle in Jasper.
DME Publisher James Phillips, in the newspaper business for 20 years, is handling The Tribune’s print production.
Said Phillips, “Tribune Publisher Noah Galilee is a former employee of mine. He worked as a reporter for me during my time as managing editor at the DME. When I returned, one of my goals was to take advantage of having an in-house press and through our talks about our newspapers, we discussed the possibility of The Cullman Tribune becoming a print customer for the DME.
