FAIRVIEW – The Fairview Lions Club continues its commitment to family-friendly community activities at Fairview Park with a free outdoor movie night this month and next.
For the month of May, the movie will be “Trolls.” On May 13, at 7:30 p.m., families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the show. Admission is free, and concessions will be available for purchase.
Fairview Lion Stephanie Giancatarino shared, “After we did the movie in the park for Halloween, we had several residents ask us if we would do more. We wanted to give the community a few more activities that would support the family environment with family fun for all ages. We were also looking for more ways to help us raise money so we can put on more events. With the weather warming we thought it would be an excellent time to branch out some more. So, for the month of May, we will be showing ‘Trolls.’
“During the month of June, we wanted to do something special to celebrate our fathers. With Father's Day on June 18, we wanted to give them something truly spectacular. We decided to show ‘Courageous;’ it is all about role of the father and the tremendous honor that God has bestowed on them as fathers. We will also be having some singers that evening to make it a little more than just the movie. We are hoping to offer more adult food for that night as opposed to the usual hot dogs, nachos and things of that nature.”
June’s movie night will be Saturday, June 10 at 6 p.m.
The movies will be free, but the Lions will be selling concessions. All funds raised will stay in the Fairview community, to be used for eyeglasses for the needy (a regular project of Lions Club International), Christmas boxes for kids and support of needy families in the community.
“All of these,” according to Giancatarino, “are efforts to keep our promises we made last year of family-friendly, good, wholesome activities and entertainment to our little community all year round. Hopefully, as the years go on, we will be able to continue these events and make them a little bigger and better each year.”
