West Point boys, girls fall to Arab via mercy rule

WEST POINT – It was a rough day for West Point as the Warriors and Lady Warriors fell to the visiting Arab Knights and Lady Knights.

Arab scored early and often taking a total of 18 shots on goal with 10 finding their mark.

Caleb Corley put the first goal in for Arab at the 30:27 mark when he smashed a right-footed kick past the Wariror keeper.

Less than six minutes later, Alex Meza slid a soft shot in the far corner to make the score 2-0.

Three minutes after that, Mace Scheekloth netted back-to-back goals to up the Knights' lead to 4-0.

With 17 minutes left in the half, Scheekloth got his hat trick with a hard shot to the far post.

Corley also added a hat trick in the first half, scoring in the 26th and 39th minute. Bryan Vanagas also scored in the half to make it 8-0 heading to the halftime break.

Arab ended the game early in the second half when they scored twice in the first two minutes.

GIRLS

Lady Warrior Faith Lee had an outstanding game between the pipes, making a staggering 17 saves out of 33 Lady Knights' shots on goal. Unfortunately, in the hailstorm of shots, 10 found the net, ending the night early for West Point.

Alexandria Murray, Kailee Leak, Madison Anderson, Josey Stinson and Cara Stewart all had goals on the night for Arab, with Stewart scoring the game-ender.
