WEST POINT – The St. Bernard girls’ and boys’ soccer teams put up strong first halves and continued their play in the second as they rolled to an easy sweep of West Point Tuesday night.

St. Bernard 3, West Point 1 (Girls)

St. Bernard scored all of their goals in the first half and played strong defensively, plus Emma Tafazoli played big at the goalie position as the Lady Saints went on to win, 3-1.

The Lady Saints struck first with 9:31 coming off the clock on a penalty kick that bounced off the hands of goalie McKenzi Brooks and landed in the net. They made it 2-0 with 16:21 remaining in the first half on a short-handed goal. Lizbet Medina scored their final goal of the half and of the game with 8:41 remaining in the half. West Point avoided the shutout in the second half on a goal by Mallory Campbell with 9:28 coming off the clock. The Lady Warriors had multiple opportunities to creep closer, but they couldn't convert.

West Point falls to 1-8 on the season and will look to get things back on track in Haleyville on Thursday.
