CULLMAN – For Cullman area residents battling cancer, the Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation (CCBBF) offers help through financial support for the expenses involved in treatment.
Foundation board member Judy Grissom explained, “The mission of the CCBBF is to raise money through fundraisers and donations, to assist our neighbors in the Cullman area with treatment of cancer. Cancer affects our lives financially. This is where CCBBF may be of help. If approved, we can assist with paying rent, utilities, gas to and from treatment, food and some other approved needs.
“Money received through donations and fundraisers is given back to the people of Cullman County. To receive assistance, you must be receiving treatment for cancer at a treatment center. If you qualify, it doesn't matter where that treatment center is located or the kind of cancer you have.”
This Saturday, April 1, CCBBF will hold its annual Colors of Cancer Day at the Cullman County Fairgrounds to remember cancer victims, celebrate cancer survivors and raise funds to support area cancer patients.
Schedule of events
7 a.m. – 5K Run/Walk registration at the fairgrounds. Onsite registration will be $30.
8 a.m. – 5K Run/Walk will begin at the fairgrounds.Vendors will set up inside the Lion’s Club Building at the fairgrounds. The Little Red Photo Booth will open. All photos are free. Cullman Regional will begin offering free health screenings.
8:30-9 a.m. – Awards to the 5K runners at the fairgrounds. Snacks available for runners.
8:30 a.m.- Parade will start registration at Stewart’s Auto Supply. No charge to enter the parade.
10 a.m. – Parade will leave Stewart’s Auto Supply.
West Point High School and Hanceville High School drum lines will lead the parade. Pink Heals Central Alabama Chapters, Birmingham Metro Pink Fire Truck and Gadsden Pink Fire Truck are coming for parade. Also, Arab’s Pink Fire Truck and Decatur’s Pink Patrol Car will participate.
10:30-10:45 a.m. – The parade is expected at fairgrounds.
11 a.m. – Welcome to Colors of Cancer Day

The mayor will have a proclamation, making April 1, 2017 Cancer Awareness Day in Cullman; County Commission will be present.
Pink Heals Chapter reps will speak about their purpose of encouraging counties to help their community, by keeping the money raised in their counties for local patients.
11:30 a.m.-noon – Hanceville High School and West Point High School drumline playoff
12:00-12:30 – Silver Spirit Kickers
12:30-1 p.m. – Wayne Abbott, A Tribute to Willie Nelson
1-2 p.m. – Wallace State Jazz Band
2 p.m. – Balloon release
