FAIRVIEW – Fairview looked to snap a three-game losing streak at home against Brewer Friday. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. Brewer jumped out to a quick lead and did not let up and the Lady Aggies ended up losing, 16-3.

Caitlin Bryson led off the game for Brewer with an infield single, then Joanie Lang reached on a dropped third strike by Daisy Manasco. A double steal put both in scoring position with no outs. Bryson scored on a Jordan Moore wild pitch to put the Lady Patriots up, 1-0. Adams walked on a full pitch, then she stole second. Two quick outs had Moore one out away from getting out of the inning, but Cassidy Stephens kept the inning alive with a two-run single off the glove of second baseman Ally Hogland to make it 3-0, then Alecia Warnick blasted a two-run homer over the left field wall to put Brewer up, 5-0.

Brewer kept the onslaught going in the second inning. Lang got hit by the pitch to lead off the inning, then after a fly out, Jessie Privett lined an RBI double past the glove of third baseman Kalynn Holcomb to bring home Lang to make it 6-0. Fairview finally got their offense going in the bottom of the third. Manasco hit a one-out single into left field on the first pitch, then on the first pitch as well, Moore hit a two-run homer over the left field wall to make it a 6-2 game.

The Lady Patriots, though, blew the game wide open in the top of the fourth as they sent 10 batters to the plate. Adams walked to lead off the inning, then she went to second on a passed ball, and scored on a Privett RBI double to left field. After Hannah Buchanan reached on an infield single, Stephens blooped a two-run single into left field and the rout was on as Brewer saw their lead swell to 9-2, and that ended Moore's day.

Katie Ball relieved her, but things got worse for the Lady Aggies. Warnick hit an RBI single to center field, then later on in the inning, Lang hit an RBI infield single, and Adams hit an RBI double, and got thrown out at third for the final out. When the half-inning came to a close, Brewer had a 12-2 lead. They added four more in the fifth inning off of new reliever Savannah Sivley as Privett scored on a wild pitch, Warnick and Dudley hit back-to-back RBI singles, and their final run came in on a Ball error at shortstop. The final run for Fairview came on a Ball solo homer over the center field wall.

Stephens went the distance for Brewer as she gave up just five hits and three runs, walked three and struck out seven. She also added two hits and four RBIs. Every Brewer player had at least one hit in the game. Warnick went 3-for-4 with two singles, a home run and four RBIs. Privett went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Bryson added two hits and an RBI, as did Dudley. Lang had a hit and an RBI. Buchanan added two hits as well. They will head back home and take on Cullman on April 3.

Moore went three innings, giving up nine hits and nine runs, walking three, striking out three and hitting one. Ball went an inning, allowing three hits and three runs, walking two and striking out zero. Sivley also went an inning as she allowed four hits and four runs, three of them earned, walked and struck out none. Moore added a home run and two RBIs. Ball had a home run and an RBI. Manasco had two hits, and Isabella McGukin had the other Fairview hit. The Lady Aggies have lost four straight, and are n ow 4-9. Tey will look to snap the losing streak in the Piedmont Invitational Tournament next Friday.
