CULLMAN – The annual Cullman Lions Club Fish & Ham Dinner will be held tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. in the Cullman Middle School cafeteria.

The cost is $10 per-plate, with a choice of either ham or a catfish filet.

According to Lion Dennis Berse, the organization has been holding this event annually for more than 40 years.

“When they started out, it was oysters,” he said. “But it got too expensive to get the oysters up fresh, so they switched to catfish.”

While this is the longest running annual fundraiser, it is the third biggest of the year for the club, coming behind the Cullman County Fair and parking for Rock the South.

Berse explained that the proceeds from the event go back into the community, to help fund projects around the county.

“We at the Lions Club really do appreciate the support of the community, because without you all supporting us we couldn’t turn around and support and fund all the things we do,” he said.

For $10 per plate, patrons will receive a choice of catfish filet or ham, along with a baked potato, slaw, hushpuppies, dessert and drink.

Eat-in, carry-out and drive-thru options are available. Drive-thru service will be located on the north side of the cafeteria.
