CULLMAN – Boy Scouts and adult scout leaders from Cullman and Blount Counties gathered Thursday evening for a district awards dinner.  Ten Scouts from five different troops achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2016.  In Cullman County, these Scouts were Hunter Looney and Dallas Curtis of Troop 34, Zachary Clayton and Joseph Myers of Troop 219, and Austin Rusk and Chad White of Troop 241.

Blount County Scouts receiving the Eagle Scout award in 2016 were Trey Tews and Addison Cofer of Troop 212, and Michael Treutel and Logan Buckelew of Troop 160.

Michael Burchett of Troop 321 in Cullman was selected to receive the 2016 Mulberry District Award of Merit, the highest leader award presented by the District.

Eagle Scout and Cullman Red Door Cafe founder Bill McCartney gave the keynote address at the awards dinner held at Northside Baptist Church.  Blount and Cullman Counties are in the Mulberry District, one of 14 Boy Scout districts in the Greater Alabama Council, which provides scouting to youth in 22 counties in north Alabama.
