HANCEVILLE — Area residents with a little Irish blood running through their veins or anyone who would like to visit the Emerald Isle may want to consider signing up to travel to Ireland with the Wallace State Abroad travel program offered through the Evelyn Burrow Museum.

A May 2017 trip is in the works for a week’s adventure in Ireland, with an option for a three-day extension to Belfast. The cost of the trip includes round-trip airfare, accommodations, on-tour transportation, regional-style meals, full-time tour director, expert local guides, guided sightseeing, entrances to attractions on the itinerary, and end-to-end support for travelers. The cost starts at $3,210 and can be split into monthly payments.

After an overnight flight to Dublin (voted one of the top 10 cities to visit in 2016 by Lonely Planet), the itinerary begins with a walking tour of the city, including Grafton Street shopping district and Temple Bar, the cultural heart of Dublin. A guided tour of Dublin continues the next day with visits to the Georgian squares, O’Connell Street, St. Stephen’s Green, Phoenix Park, Trinity College to see the Book of Kells and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Day four of the trip will be spent in Cork, with a visit to the Queenstown Experience. The next day will find you in Killarney, with an en excursion to Kinsale and a visit to Blarney Castle, home of the famous Blarney Stone. A second day in Killarney includes an excursion to the Ring of Kerry and a visit to the Bog Museum.

The next day it’s a visit to Cashel Rock in Killarney before returning to Dublin for a final day that includes a walking tour focusing on the 1916 rebellion and free time to explore on your own.

A three-day extension to Belfast is available at an additional coast. That itinerary includes a sightseeing tour of Belfast, the Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and Bushmills Distillery.

The trip is scheduled to depart on May 16, with a return date of May 24 unless the three-day extension is added.

To avoid a late fee, sign up by Feb. 10.  Currently spots are filling up, and many students and community members have expressed interest.
