Several Friday night basketball games rescheduled due to threat of snow

CULLMAN COUNTY – With the possibility of snow and travel issues Friday into Friday evening, several Friday evening area prep basketball games have been rescheduled or postponed.

The Meek at Good Hope and Susan Moore at Holly Pond games have been postponed. Holly Pond will play Susan Moore on Monday, with this being a Class 3A, Area 11 assignment for both teams. No official word on if the Meek-Good Hope games will be rescheduled.

Vinemont at West End in Walnut Grove was moved from Friday night to tonight.

A representative from Vinemont told the Tribune that the Eagles' games at Fairview for Saturday are still on tap.

As of 10 a.m. Thursday, the West Point at Fairview, Winston County at Cold Springs, Carbon Hill at Hanceville and St. Bernard at Whitesburg Christian games will go forward as planned on Friday night. Those games are subject to being rescheduled, depending on how the wintry weather develops.

West Point Principal Heith Yearwood reported on Twitter that if the games with Fairview are postponed, they will be made up on Jan. 20 at Joe Shults Gymnasium on the Fairview campus. These are 5A, Area 12 games for the varsity teams.

Winston County and Cold Springs is 2A, Area 13, Carbon Hill and Hanceville are 3A, Area 12. The St. Bernard contests with Whitesburg are regular season play.

For tonight, Holly Pond is at Good Hope, Hanceville plays at Cold Springs, Albertville visits Cullman for 6A, Area 14 games and Vinemont is on the road to West End.
