CULLMAN – We continue our series, asking area leaders about their memories of 2016 and their visions of 2017.  They were asked not for recollections of their personal lives, but for views based on experiences in their professional positions.

Cullman City Schools Superintendent Dr. Susan Patterson

1. What is the best thing you will remember about 2016?

"Completing our first school year in the new CHS building, East Elementary Archery team becoming World Champions, having multiple CHS teams compete in state championship finals with Boy's Soccer winning title."

2. Is there anything you would like to forget about 2016?

"I would have to say that 2016 was really a good year for us, there is nothing I would list as liking to forget."

3. What is the first thing or most important thing you anticipate seeing in 2017?

"The launch of our Academy learning models at CHS. We are looking to start our Engineering Academy in fall 2017 and going to be working with other partners to develop a Young Entrepreneurs Academy."

Fairview Mayor Keith Henry

1. What is the best thing you will remember about 2016?

"You know I was only mayor for a month then, don't you?" (laughing)

Tribune: So…getting elected? (more laughing)

"Yeah, I guess that was about all I did in that year!" (whole lot of laughing!)

2. Is there anything you would like to forget about 2016?

"No, it was a pretty good year.  I guess just anticipation of what we can do in the future."

3. What is the first thing or most important thing you anticipate seeing in 2017?

"I guess my first project that I'd like to see is the lighting of our walking trails. That's one of my top priorities."
