CULLMAN – Students from the Cullman community are preparing to showcase their talents to benefit nursery and pediatric care at Cullman Regional on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. in the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre at Wallace State.

The 2017 Bownes Memorial For Kids’ Sake Variety Show celebrates the variety of talent among the youth in our area.  The program will feature musical and theatrical performances from more than 80 children.

The event was started in 1993 by Dr. Eugene Bownes, one of Cullman’s most beloved pediatricians.

The program allows the Cullman Regional Medical Center (CRMC) Foundation to purchase special items for the hospital to help care for infants and pediatric patients.  Proceeds from the event have purchased a variety of patient-care items over the years.

Engaging the students in the show allows them to be exposed to a philanthropic event at a tender age.  Through their participation, they will give back to help advance healthcare services. The participants make donations at the time of their auditions, sell tickets and sell sponsorships for the show.

The 2017 Bownes Memorial For Kids’ Sake Variety Show promises to deliver a wide range of talents from solo and ensemble dance performances to vocal and instrumental performances. Tickets may be purchased in the Foundation office for $10 in advance and $15 the day of the program.

“We are excited to once again host the variety show giving students the opportunity to showcase their talents,” said Champ Crocker, Foundation president. “We encourage the community to take part and show your support for this cause benefiting the nursery and pediatric care at Cullman Regional.”
