CULLMAN – A report of a possible armed subject walking on Denson Avenue near U.S. Highway 278 led to the arrest of a Cullman man for unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance on Monday.
Cullman City Police Department (CPD) Investigators Justin Craft, Chris Thomason and Scott Sanford, along with Lt. Jeff Warnke and Officer Adam Walker, responded to the call, where Craft made contact with the suspect, later identified as Timothy Lee Hicks, 34, of Cullman.
Craft reportedly observed Hicks with a long gun pointed in the direction of a tree line. Hicks complied with orders to drop the gun. As other officers arrived to assist, Hicks was detained. Officers were able to determine that the gun was a BB gun.
Investigators obtained consent to search Hicks and recovered a syringe and an empty baggie from him. Hicks then gave officers consent to search his residence at 408 Morgan Ave. SW. Upon searching the residence, investigators recovered components for a methamphetamine lab as well as a used gas generator. There was also a used coffee filter with methamphetamine and a small corner bag with methamphetamine residue.
Hicks was placed under arrest for unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance. He is being held at the Cullman County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
