HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The nightcap from the opening day of this year’s county tournament featured a JV Boys matchup between (2) Cold Springs and (7) Vinemont and the Eagles of Cold Springs got off to a fast start in this one. Cold Springs jumped out to a 37-7 lead in the first half and cruised through the second half on its way to a 61-19 win.

Baskets by Wyatt Barker and Lindan Hill gave Cold Springs a 4-0 start in the first quarter and Cash Dickerson knocked down a three to make it 7-0. Dickerson and Hill each scored inside to make it an 11-0 game and Vinemont got its first basket of the game when Keegan Stricklin laid one in to trim the lead to 11-2. Cold Springs continued to pour it on in the second quarter. Eli Voce and Brayden Harbison exchanged three-pointers to make it a 20-5 game, but Dickerson followed with 10 straight points to give Cold Springs a 30-5 lead. Baskets by Hill and Barker helped build a 34-7 lead later in the period and Bradley Hancock buried a three just before the buzzer to put Cold Springs ahead 37-7 at halftime.

Back to back scores from Hill made it a 41-7 game early in the third quarter and Cold Springs kept adding to its lead. Baskets by Barker, Hill and Dickerson stretched the lead to 47-10 midway through the period and Voce and Cooper Johnson both scored a pair of buckets before the end of the third to give Cold Springs a commanding, 55-13 lead at the start of the fourth.
