Funeral services for Virginia S. Hollis, 83, of Hanceville will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Fairview West Cemetery. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Monday, December 30th at Hanceville Funeral Home form 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Mrs. Hollis, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024 at her residence in Hanceville, Alabama. A devoted Christian, Virginia lived a life rich in faith and full of grace, embodying kindness and love in all she did.
Born on March 8, 1941 to the late Millard and Mary Pearson-Sellers in Cullman, Alabama; Virginia’s gentle, easy spirit and kind heart endeared her to everyone she met. She adored her family above all else and took immense pride in being a guiding light for them. Her devotion to her late husband, Gordon Hollis, was undeniable, and their love story remains an inspiration to those who knew them.
Virginia lived life to the fullest, savoring each moment and finding joy in both the simple and extraordinary. Her warmth, laughter, and steadfast faith will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Survivors include her children, Donna Butler (David), Dedra Killough (Charles), Sandy Chapman (Gary) and Randy Hollis (Annette); grandchildren, Christopher Putman, Kyle Putman, Katie Birt, Kristi Butler, Kelsey Butler, Anna Killough (Brittany), Bradley Chapman (Hannah), Derek Chapman (Aaron), Summer Higgins (Jeremy) and Mayci Hollis; great grandchildren, Zane Putman, Jace Putman, Kendra Putman, Reed Putman, Liya Putman, Karson Hollis, Jeremy Higgins, Havayah Higgins and Mateo Beck; brother, Alfred Sellers, Thomas Sellers, and Dolphus Sellers; sister, Altha Oliver; a host of nieces and nephews, and special granddaughters-in-law, Krista Putman and Simret Putman
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Edward Hollis; parents, Millard and Mary Sellers; siblings, Clercy Steele, Easter Miller, Christine McBrayer, Imogene Galin, Ola-Mae Shockley, Ocie Banister, Alton Sellers; and an infant brother.
Zane Putman, Chris Putman, Jace Putman, Reed Putman, Kyle Putman and Jeremy Higgins will have the honor to carry their grandmother to her final place of rest while serving as her pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Sellers and Karson Hollis.
