CULLMAN, Ala. – Alabama Farm Credit and Hope Horses this week announced the tremendous success of their Giving Tuesday campaign, which raised $6,447 — exceeding the $5,000 goal to purchase a new therapeutic riding horse.
The new addition, named Sal (also known as Splash of Gold), will enable Hope Horses to serve two to four additional students each week and reduce the workload on its current equine team, fostering more opportunities for individuals with special needs to access physical and emotional therapy.
“At Alabama Farm Credit, we are proud to support nonprofits, recognizing their vital role in strengthening our communities and addressing critical needs,” said Mel Koller, Alabama Farm Credit CEO. “As an agricultural lender, we find a unique harmony in partnering with agriculture-focused nonprofits, like Hope Horses, whose missions align closely with our commitment to the land and the people who depend on it. By supporting these organizations, we help ensure that the benefits of agriculture — its resources, education and opportunities — reach those who need them most, while also fostering growth and resilience across our broader community.”
Hope Horses, based in Cullman, provides services statewide for therapeutic and adaptive riding programs to individuals with physical, cognitive, social or emotional disabilities. The addition of Sal will expand its ability to deliver these highly impactful services, which have proven life changing for countless community members.
“Hope Horses’ therapeutic and adaptive riding program provides a unique and valuable service for individuals with physical, cognitive, social or emotional disabilities. I am proud to serve on the board of such a great organization,” said Kedric Karkosh, Alabama Farm Credit CFO and Hope Horses board member. “Alabama Farm Credit is committed to supporting such programs in north Alabama and is proud to partner with Hope Horses on the Day of Giving.”
Alabama Farm Credit supported the campaign by promoting it via social media and through its employee gift-matching program, emphasizing a collective community effort. The funds raised will ensure the continuation of the meaningful work Hope Horses carries out and further their reach to those in need.
Kelsey Scott, executive director of Hope Horses, added, “We are grateful for everyone who gave and who shared our posts to spread the word about Hope. It’s a community-driven organization, and we appreciate everyone who helped us reach our goal.”
