Jack Wallace Springer passed away peacefully at his home at 11 a.m. on December 9, 2024 surrounded by his family. Jack lived a full life and succumbed to his long battle with Myelofibrosis after having Acute promyelocytic Leukemia.
Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father John and Francis Springer, his mother and father in-law Dorothy and Virgil Allred, a baby brother and his beloved Doberman Darby. He is survived by his wife Shirley and his sons Jason (Laney) and Jamie Springer, his sister Joyce (Don) Hardeman, His brother Jim (Cheryl) Springer and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jack served the city of Cullman his entire career after leaving the Airforce. He retired from the Cullman Power Board and remained active at the Cullman Police Department only retiring after fifty years of service. Jack also taught vocational electricity for many years at Wallace Sate Community College.
Jack Was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a Freemason and a great friend and supporter of both the Lions Club and Cullman High School football team where he worked security for football games and the Cullman County Fair. Jack was also a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cullman.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Pankjit Vacchani and staff at UAB, Dr. Jeremy Stidham, Nathan Ziegenbein, Dr. Nick Braswell, and the staff of Southern Care Hospice for the excellent care he received during his long illness. We would also like to thank Father Patrick Eagan and the staff of Sacred Heart Church.
Arrangements for Mr. Springer are as follows: Visitation will be Thursday December 12 at Moss Service Funeral Home Chapel from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with the Rosary to follow. The Funeral mass will be at Sacred Heart Church Friday December 13 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at East Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church cemetery.
