CULLMAN, Ala. – Duck River Baptist Church invites the Cullman community to its annual Thanksgiving Community Meal on Wednesday, Nov. 13, beginning at 5 p.m. The church will serve a homemade, traditional Thanksgiving dinner, welcoming anyone in the community to enjoy the food and fellowship.

The Thanksgiving meal, now in its 20th year, is prepared and hosted by Duck River’s dedicated Hospitality Committee, led by Brenda Lovell, fondly known as “Nana.” Volunteers will spend three days preparing the meal, which includes turkey and dressing, sweet potato casserole, green beans, mashed potatoes, slaw, rolls and a selection of desserts.

“Our hope is to provide a meal for those that are needful, but also provide a place to allow the community to sit together and fellowship together for one evening,” said Nana. “We want to feed them physically and spiritually.”

Duck River Baptist Church Pastor Caleb Elrod expressed gratitude for the dedicated team that makes the event possible, “1 Peter 4:10 says, ‘As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.’ We are blessed to have a host of men and women who use their gift of service to help others by cooking, cleaning, decorating, delivering and serving others where they are,” he said.

The event is free and open to everyone. Serving will continue until the food runs out. Duck River Baptist Church is located at 1027 County Road 775 in Cullman. For additional information, contact the church at 256-352-2612 or info@duckriverbaptish.church.
