CULLMAN, Ala. – The 2024 General Election is this Tuesday, Nov. 5.

“It’s important for everyone that is registered in Cullman County to go vote that day,” said Cullman County Probate Judge Tammy Brown. “Your voice, your vote – and it does makes a difference and your vote does count.”

Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. An ID is required to cast a ballot. The public is welcome to observe the ballot counting and reporting process beginning at approximately 8 p.m. in the large courtroom on the third floor of the Cullman County Courthouse.

The majority of races on this year’s ballot for Cullman County are uncontested.

The major race is of course that for President of the United States. Candidates are Republican Donald Trump, Democrat Kamala Harris, Independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Independent Chase Oliver and Independent Jill Stein.

For Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, candidates are Democrat Greg Griffin and Republican Sarah Stewart.

Voters will also be able to vote “yes” or “no” on one statewide amendment and one local amendment.

Text of Statewide Amendment 1:

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, to grant certain sixteenth section and indemnity school land that is owned in fee simple by the Franklin County school system, is located in Fayette County and Walker County, and is for the exclusive use of schools in the Franklin County School System to the Franklin County Board of Education; and to provide for the distribution of any proceeds and interest generated by this land to the Franklin County Board of Education. (Proposed by Act 2024-301)

Text of Local Amendment 1:

Relating to Cullman County, proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, to levy a 15 percent sales tax on the sales of lawfully sold medical cannabis products and would provide for the distribution of tax proceeds to the Office of the Cullman County District Attorney and for mental health purposes. (Proposed by Act 2023-255)
