CULLMAN, Ala. – Thousands of people lined up for the annual Cullman Police Department Trunk or Treat event on Tuesday evening.
Police Chief Joey Duncan said last year’s event saw 60,000 pieces of candy given out. This year, the department distributed 70,000 to the kids who attended.
“We expected around 3,000 visitors this year, but we saw much closer to 4,500-5,000 people,” he said. “We had officers and their families dressed as mad scientists, aliens, Bluey and the Bandit, Elf and many more.”
Merchants Bank was the sole sponsor for the candy for the event, which also featured music, police vehicles, fire trucks, a helicopter and a showing of the movie “Coco.”
On Wednesday, Duncan shared, “We stayed until 9 p.m. last night, until the last child went through the line. We almost ran out of candy again this year. This was the biggest trunk or treat we’ve ever had. Thank you so much to everyone for coming out!”
