Good Hope City Council approves Resolution to perform traffic study

GOOD HOPE, Ala. – The Good Hope City Council held its final October meeting at Good Hope City Hall Monday night and approved a new Resolution have a traffic study done on County Road 437 from the I-65 ramps to Day Gap Road. The City is contracting with Waggoner Engineering, Inc. for $30,000 to perform the study which will be conducted over eight weeks with particular focus being put on several intersections.

Resolution NO: 024-2024

WHEREAS, the City of Good Hope is extending Daystar Drive for the safety in the area of Beech Grove Road and County Road 437;

THEREFORE, in accordance with engineering guidelines the City of Good Hope intends to go into Professional Service Agreement for a Traffic Study on County Road 437 in the Day Gap Road area all the way to the 1-65 ramps;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the city council of the City of Good Hope states that Jerry Bartlett, Mayor, is hereby authorized to execute these contract documents related to this project for the amount of $30,000.00 to be paid out of Economic Development, upon execution of said contract the full agreement will become a part of this resolution.

After receiving a recommendation from the City’s Alcohol Review Committee, the Council also approved an off-premise beer and wine license application for the Love’s Travel Stops & Country Store currently being built at the 305 exit off I-65.

In its last piece of business at Monday night’s meeting, the Council held its first reading of an Ordinance that would re-zone 24 acres of land at 95 Trimble Drive from Residential (R2) to Agricultural (Ag).

The Good Hope City Council will hold its next meeting Monday, Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Good Hope City Hall.
