HANCEVILLE, Ala. – After traveling to Winfield last week, the Hanceville Bulldogs returned home to Ray Talley Stadium Friday night for their final region game of the season against Phil Campbell. Unfortunately for the home crowd, the Bulldogs weren’t able to keep up with an explosive offensive performance from the Bobcats’ and fell 57-22.

Phil Campbell scored early in the opening period to take an early, 8-0 lead. A big play on a pass from Hunter Black to Ashton Hurst moved the Bulldogs’ offense down inside the 30-yard line but they were forced to turn the ball over on downs a few plays later. A long touchdown pass on the next Phil Campbell play extended the lead to 16-0 midway through the first quarter.

The Bobcats found the end zone again later in the first quarter to make it a 24-0 game, but Hanceville responded on the ensuing possession. The Bulldogs put together a methodical drive and kept the chains moving until a 13-yard touchdown pass from Black to Drake Bentley capped the scoring drive and trimmed the lead to 24-6. Black slid just inside the pylon on the two-point conversion attempt to make it a 24-8 game early in the second quarter. However, Phil Campbell was able to score a couple more touchdowns before the end of the second quarter to take a 38-8 lead into the locker room at halftime.

A pair of Bobcat touchdowns extended the lead to 51-8 midway through the third quarter, but the Bulldogs were able to get on the board again early in the fourth when Marquies Leeth took a handoff 11 yards into the end zone for a touchdown. Dylan Lazzaro split the uprights with his extra point attempt to cut the lead to 51-15.

After another Phil Campbell touchdown, Hanceville found the end zone one more time when Black pulled it down on a fake punt and took it 60 yards for a Bulldogs touchdown. Lazzaro’s extra point made it 57-22 but those were the final points Hanceville was able to get on the board.

Hanceville will be back home next week to wrap up its season against Oak Grove.
