CULLMAN, Ala. – The MS Walk 2024 was held at Heritage Park Saturday, Oct. 19.

Dr. Christopher LaGanke is founder of North Central Neurology Associates in Cullman, a leading center for patient enrollment in clinical trials for new oral multiple sclerosis medications. He and his wife Minday, along with their office manager Debbie Simonsen, assisted heavily in planning this year’s walk.

“There was a small turnout this year because the event date changed from the spring to the fall,” Mindy LaGanke shared. “We are actually doing this event on our own now and we are learning how to grow it. We are still giving some proceeds to (the National) MS Society even though we are handling this specific event on our own.”

Dr. LaGanke shared Saturday was MS Day.

“We are going to keep this event date slated for next October but we will plan it on a different date,” Dr. LaGanke said. “We are very thankful for a supportive community and the participation of those who joined us today.”

Simonsen said High Caliber Mechanical LLC and Align Alabama were sponsors of the event. The mums and pumpkins were donated by Gibbs Garden Center and Glover’s Produce.

“We had local gifts for the raffle donated by Bill Smith GMC. Monograms Plus, Dutchess Donuts, Merle Norman Cosmetics and Werner’s assisted in the process,” Simonsen said. “We received a lot of support from local businesses in the community and it was a great day for patients — having them aware that people care and we are here fighting for them. Doc is so passionate about MS and taking care of his patients. He hosted over 2,700 patients from all over.”
