ATHENS, Ala. – After defeating Priceville in dramatic fashion a week ago, West Point hit the road Friday night for a region game at East Limestone. The Warriors trailed at halftime but put 22 unanswered points on the board in the second half to pull away and claim a 28-7 win.
East Limestone went into the locker room with a 7-6 lead at halftime, but it wasn’t long before West Point began to take control of the momentum in the second half. An interception gave the Warriors good field position early in the third quarter and just a few plays later, Hunter Hensley ran a QB keeper into the end zone to give the Warriors a 12-7 lead.
West Point extended its lead later in the third when a bad snap on an Indians punt led to a safety and made it a 14-7 game. With just over 10 minutes to play in the fourth, Ollie Howell punched one into the end zone to put the Warriors in front 21-7. Hensley was able to keep the chains moving later in the fourth with a pair of big passes to Bryant Moon and West Point finished off another drive in the end zone to stretch the lead to 28-7 with just over two minutes on the clock.
An interception on the ensuing East Limestone possession sealed a 28-7 road win for the Warriors.
West Point moves to 2-5 with the win and will return home next week for a region battle with Russellville.
