FAIRVIEW, Ala. – At the Monday, Oct. 7, meeting of the Fairview Town Council, the main topic of discussion was the progress on the newly proposed park.
Mayor Keith Henry said he would travel to Mongomery on Oct. 17, to discuss additional funding for the park project.
Over the summer, the council briefly touched on its vision for the new park. It hopes to include both competitive and recreational elements that would serve all age groups. These elements could potentially include a splash pad, new ball fields, a pickleball court, walking trails and more.
Henry stated at the council’s June meeting, “This council has been conservative. We haven’t wasted money. Our funds have grown, and I’d like to put it into something big that makes an impact on the whole community.”
The location of the new park has not yet been decided, but the Town is working with CDG Engineering for park planning services.
Fairview residents in attendance at the October meeting expressed concern for safety and property line issues with the installation of the new park. Henry reassured residents the council will work diligently with planning engineers to do everything necessary to ensure the security of the park boundaries.
Residents are invited to attend monthly council meetings or contact the Town via Facebook with ideas and examples of things they would like to see in the new park.
In other business:
- A motion was passed to pay bills
- The Little Free Library proposed at September’s meeting has received funding and will be installed once a design is approved
- The council discussed American Rescue Plan fund allocation, which must be designated by Dec. 31, 2024
The next Fairview Town Council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Nov. 4, 2024, at Fairview Town Hall.
