HANCEVILLE – Hanceville’s sixth annual Fall Fest took place Sunday afternoon, with hordes of people filling the downtown streets. Early estimates are that there were at least 3,000 people, many of whom were in costumes to celebrate Halloween. The festival was centered around Hanceville First Baptist Church and the surrounding area.
About a third of the booths were church-related, but the majority of the trunk-or-treat stations were operated by citizens of Hanceville who were out to put smiles on the faces of children as the kids walked past and collected candy and other treats. Inflatables were also available for children to play on (and put all of the extra sugar to use).
One organization present was the Christian Motorcyclists Association. President Steven Reeves, of Vinemont, was at the event alongside fellow members of the north Alabama chapter. The group is an active ministry, ministering to bikers, specifically, and to members of the community who are willing to come by their booths.
“That’s what we’re doing out here today. We’re getting out in the local community,” said Reeves.
Reeves says his group was invited to be a part of the Hanceville Fall Fest by a Garden City Church, as well as Mayor Kenneth Nail of Hanceville.
