CULLMAN, Ala. – Jubilee Coffee and Wine Bar, sister company to  Karma’s Coffee House, will – tentatively – open in downtown Cullman this November.

Owner Katie Fine said Karma’s and Jubilee are more than just places to grab a drink; they’re places of community, conversation and friendship.

“They each have a warm, inviting atmosphere that beckons people to come together,“ Fine said. “These spaces are carefully crafted to foster relaxation, socialization and a genuine sense of belonging. At the heart of both establishments is a deep love for beverages. Karma’s Coffee House curates an exceptional menu of coffee and tea, each cup brewed to perfection, while Jubilee Coffee and Wine Bar presents an impressive array of wines, each selected for its unique character. This focus on beverage excellence is woven into the very identity of each business, ensuring every visit is a celebration of taste and quality.”

For readers who are unsure or who have never visited a wine bar, The Tribune asked Fine to explain what exactly a wine bar offers its patrons.

“Jubilee will have fun and interactive wine-tasting experience with its self-serve wine dispensers, but it also extends the enjoyment with retail wine sales and bottle service right at your table,” Fine said. “These state-of-the-art dispensers allow guests to sample an array of wines from different regions without the need to commit to a full glass or bottle, making it a mini wine tour around the world in one visit. You can taste a crisp sauvignon blanc from New Zealand, a robust cabernet from California or a smooth Malbec from Argentina — all with just a few pours. Once you’ve discovered your favorite, you have the option to purchase a bottle to enjoy at your table or take home, turning every visit into an opportunity to explore, enjoy and take a piece of the experience with you.”

We asked Fine where the name “Jubilee” comes from, and she said, simply, “It embodies a spirit of celebration, joy and community. It made it a fitting choice for both Jubilee Coffee and Jubilee Wine Bar. In many cultures, a jubilee is an occasion of festive gatherings and special moments, a time to come together and enjoy life’s pleasures. This sense of celebration is at the heart of what Jubilee Coffee and Wine Bar aims to create: a welcoming space where people can connect, unwind and celebrate the everyday moments that bring happiness.”

The location, the experience and the ambiance of these establishments is no accident, Fine shared.

“Every detail, from the seating arrangements to the lighting, is designed to make patrons feel at ease,” she said. “Whether you’re unwinding with a latte at Karma’s or savoring a glass of wine at Jubilee, the experience is consistently one of comfort and delight. Quality is paramount at both venues. Karma’s and Jubilee are committed to using high-quality ingredients, sourced locally when available, to support the community and ensure the freshest flavors. This dedication to quality is evident in every sip and bite, attracting customers who appreciate artisanal, thoughtfully crafted offerings.”

Community engagement is vital, said Fine, and the goal  for both Karma’s and Jubilee is to be intertwined in all things Cullman.

“They’re not just businesses; they’re gathering places where local culture is celebrated,” Fine said. “Hosting events like live music, tastings and community gatherings, these venues become lively hubs where connections are made and memories are shared. As social hubs, both Karma’s and Jubilee  invite patrons to linger, converse and enjoy the company of others. They’re designed for more than just a quick stop; they’re places where you can spend quality time, whether catching up with a friend, having a meeting or simply savoring a quiet moment alone.”

It’s no surprise that complementary food items and small bites will be available to match and pair with wine tasting options.

“At Jubilee Coffee and Wine Bar, we believe that great wine is best enjoyed with great company, and our menu is crafted with this spirit of community in mind,” Fine said. “Embracing the joy of gathering, our selection features shareables and items that are perfect for enjoying together, whether you’re catching up with friends or meeting new ones. Each dish is designed to complement our wine selection and foster a sense of connection. On the weekends, we elevate the experience with a special brunch menu, offering a relaxed yet indulgent way to start your day. Also, you can enjoy a leisurely brunch with a thoughtfully paired cocktail and savor the weekend in a welcoming atmosphere.”
