GERALDINE, Ala. – The Holly Pond Broncos were coming off a dominant performance against Brindlee Mountain last week, but they had their hands full when they arrived at Geraldine Friday night. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 28-6 lead in the first half and continued pulling away in the second half, defeating the Broncos 55-6.
After falling behind 21-0 early in the second quarter, Holly Pond got on the board when quarterback Sawyer Olinger punched one into the end zone from a yard out to trim the lead to 21-6 with 4:44 to play in the first half.
However, Geraldine answered with another score just before halftime to make it a 28-6 game at the break. The Bulldogs added to their lead with another touchdown in the third quarter and three more scores in the fourth to cap a 55-6 region win over the Broncos.
Holly Pond will be off next week before hosting another region matchup with Whitesburg Christian on Oct. 4.
