CORDOVA, Ala. – After collecting a win at Haleyville last week, the Good Hope Raiders were back on the road Friday night for a region matchup against Cordova. Good Hope’s defense has been stout all season and it showed up again this week, leading the way in a 21-0 win over the Blue Devils.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Raiders got on the board midway through the second when Tyler Cone punched one into the end zone from a yard out. Robert Rodriguez split the uprights with the ensuing extra point attempt and put Good Hope in front 7-0. After an interception by Hank Hudson gave the ball back to the Raiders, Mason Drake ran one in from 2 yards out in the final seconds of the first half to extend the Good Hope lead to 14-0 going into the halftime break.

The Raiders continued to smother Cordova defensively in the third quarter and went into the fourth maintaining a 14-0 advantage. A short Blue Devils punt gave the ball back to Good Hope’s offense with great field position with around 10 minutes remaining in the game. Cone capped a scoring drive with his second rushing touchdown of the night to make it a 21-0 game with 8:37 to play and that was all the Raiders needed to wrap up a 21-0, region win over Cordova.

Good Hope improves to 4-0 with the win and will return home to James W. Shabel Stadium to host Addison next week.
