CULLMAN, Ala. – Hometown Medical Group, a primary care facility in Cullman focusing on senior and individual care, is hosting an informational meeting on Sept. 19, for recipients of Medicare or area seniors 65 and older with an interest in Medicare coverage.
Area seniors and their caregivers are welcome to join the group as they cover and break down Medicare changes, coverage and prescription medication benefits for 2025. The office has chosen to open the meeting to the public to assist seniors in navigating the confusing language and hidden exclusions often found in health insurance contracts.
Baylee Morris, Hometown Medical Group’s Cullman office manager shared, “This meeting is free to the public to basically help anyone 65 and older understand insurance better and help the community get the health benefits they need.”
Next year will see changes for Medicare recipients thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, like an out-of-pocket cap on prescription medication for Part D plan holders and cost-sharing for Part B plan holders. Premiums are expected to increase, alongside the breaks in other costs. For 2025, the base beneficiary premium will be $36.78, which is $2.08 more than 2024. “Insurance has changed so much and taken away from people without them knowing so we have a Medicare Broker that is coming to speak about nine different insurance plans that will give the elders the healthcare they need,” said Morris.
The insurance seminar will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, at Cullman Church of Christ. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with Medicare Broker Richard Lender. An RSVP to 256-965-0340 is requested by the staff.
