A graveside service for Paul Ray Anderson will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville, Alabama. Reverend Doug Wells will be officiating the service.

Mr. Anderson, 95, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024. Born on April 25, 1929, Paul led a remarkable life marked by his dedication to his craftmanship, his love for the outdoors, and his contribution to one of humanity’s greatest achievements.

Paul retired from Cullman Products after many years of dedicated service. His passion for precision and innovation was evident throughout his career, beginning in the 1960s when he worked for Redstone Tool & Die. It was during this time that he was chosen, alongside just one other, to build the nose cones for the lunar landing legs and hydraulics. He was also a proud member of the design team for the Apollo missions to the moon, where his meticulous craftsmanship contributed to the success of the Lunar Landing. His work included building the mock-up for the lunar landing gear, an achievement that stands as a testament to his skill and dedication.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Mr. Anderson was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and fishing. He spent countless hours in the woods and on the water, where he felt most at peace.

Survivors include his children, Brenda Burdette, Sharron Chandler and Paul Wayne Anderson; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his son, Larry Anderson; and twelve brothers and sisters.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on in the memories of his loved ones.

Hanceville Funeral Home is honored to serve the Anderson Family.
