Representatives from the City of Cullman and the architectural firm Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood begin opening bids at Cullman City Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016.
CULLMAN – On Tuesday afternoon at Cullman City Hall, the City of Cullman opened sealed bids solicited earlier this year for a new Cullman City Water/Wastewater Department facility on Eva Road. Designed by Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood of Birmingham, the new 28,000-plus-square-foot structure will consist of three buildings housing administrative offices, a maintenance shop and truck bays.
Bidding officially closed at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, and the sealed bid envelopes were opened by Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood Project Manager Matthew Smith.
Six companies submitted base bids for the main construction project plus bids for three alternate projects:
- Three covered parking bays adjacent to the maintenance bay
- Four covered parking bays adjacent to the maintenance bay
- A fence and three gates along the road
The bids were as follows:

After all bids were read, Smith announced a planned project budget of $2,500,000. He closed the meeting by stating that the mayor and city council will take these bids under advisement as they plan the next step in the project.
