Danny Winford Baker was born January 1, 1951 in Cullman and had the distinction of being Cullman’s first baby of the new year. He passed away July 10, 2024 surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Baker and Nettie (Vest) Baker, his sister Marcia Robertson and his brother Ted Baker.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years Gale Baker, his children Heath Baker, Angie Baker and Clay Baker and his sister Judy Baker Walker. Also left to mourn his loss are his sisters in law Cathy Posey and Lynne Kimmerling, brothers in law Michael (Sharon) Anderson and Harold Robertson and long time friend Dave Hassell. Mr. Baker also leaves behind two grandsons, two great granddaughters, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Danny was an avid Alabama fan and Saturdays you would find him in front of the television rooting on his favorite team! He spent many hours coaching basketball when his sons were younger and attended as many local football games as possible. Danny could always be counted on to help out a friend or neighbor in need. He also enjoyed fishing, barbecuing and taking care of the family’s three cats (SJ, Missy and Prissy). He loved teasing and aggravating his family and they wouldn’t have had it any other way!
Per Danny’s wishes, no funeral services will be held, only a small Celebration of Life for immediate family only. Should you wish to honor Danny’s memory a contribution can be made to the American Heart Association.
