Sweet Grown Alabama Day means showing love to Alabama farmers, and we want to invite you to join us on Saturday, July 13, to celebrate all things local. Participating is as simple as supporting an Alabama farmer. We encourage you to make a purchase from your local farmer, cook a meal made with local ingredients, pick Alabama grown flowers, eat at a restaurant that serves locally grown products, visit a local farmers market or otherwise support local Saturday!
Share photos of your Sweet Grown Alabama Day experience on social media and tag Sweet Grown Alabama on Facebook (@Sweet Grown Alabama), Instagram (@sweet_grown_alabama) or Twitter (@Sweet_Grown_AL). Posts will be reshared throughout the day, so get out and show your love for local products!
The importance of buying local
“Reasons to buy local include health benefits, protecting our environment, getting a better quality product, supporting our local community and knowing your grower,” said Sweet Grown Alabama Assistant Director Aisling Walding. “When you buy from a Sweet Grown Alabama farmer you are making an impact on their farm and yourself.”

“Not only do you receive the best products around when you support farmers, you are also helping support Alabama’s economy,” Walding said. “Purchasing local on Sweet Grown Alabama Day is an easy, fun way to say thank you to the farmers who work hard every day growing our food.”
