Funeral services for Mr. Simeon Jonathan Calvert, age 96 of Cullman, Alabama will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Cullman; internment in the Cullman City Cemetery.
Mr. Calvert died Monday, June 17, 2024. He was born on August 19, 1927 in Cullman County, Alabama to parents Ervin Otis Calvert and Florence Dean Calvert.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Drinkard Calvert, his son Maurice Calvert, and sister Betty Calvert Lowry.
Mr. Calvert is survived by his children Rocky (Jane) Calvert, Cathy Calvert, and Roger (Bonnie) Calvert; grandchildren Jonathan (Kim) Calvert, and Baili Calvert (Matt) Busby; great-grandchildren Autumn Calvert and Forrest Calvert; sisters Mary Nell Calvert Crook and Glenda Calvert (Dennis) Shin; and Mr. Calvert’s little dog Scooter.
After graduating from Cullman High School in 1946, he served in the United States Army (1946-48), and in the Korean War from 1950-51. Mr. Calvert served his community as a State Farm agent for 44 years. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Cullman.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home.
