CRANE HILL, Ala. – For the second year, Arrowhead RV Park in Crane Hill will host Hippie Fest. The festival, a smorgasbord of live music, games, crafts and vendors, was a hit last year. This year, employees and staff at the park are hoping that trend continues.
Live music will be rocking at the festival all day, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and rolling well into the nighttime hours. Vendors and their wares will include personalized T-shirts from TNTees, crochet gnomes with Totally Hooked by Ash, homemade and homeopathic lotions from local farm Southdown Acres, baked goods from Simmons and more.
Food trucks will be on-site all day. There will be crawfish, authentic Mexican food, hand-smashed burgers, freshly brewed coffees, shaved ice and mocktails and beverages.
Admission to Hippie Fest is $20, with an additional $5 parking charge. Most vendors are able to accommodate cashless payments; however, cash is recommended for the event.
Lisa Watts, an employee of Arrowhead said, “We will have all kinds of games, like cornhole and tug of war, music of all kinds and shopping… in the shade!”
With a forecasted high temperature of 94 degrees on Saturday, the shaded vendors and activities will be a welcome addition to the event. The park will close access to the swimming pool and boat docks for the duration of the festival, and there will be enhanced security.
The night before Hippie Fest, Watts said, the park’s restaurant and bar will open for a special costume contest with a $5 entry fee and karaoke. That’s Friday, June 14, from 7:30-10 p.m. The restaurant will be serving a limited menu and pouring drinks all night and awarding cash and gift prizes to attendees and winners.
“The costume contest is $5, but the karaoke is free, so come sing and have fun! The bar will be serving Friday, along with kitchen opening a limited menu,” laughed Watts.
Hippie Fest will open its doors at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15. Arrowhead RV Park is located at 761 County Road 941.
