CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Caring for Kids this week received a massive product donation to its food pantry, thanks to the Cullman Post Office. As part of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive, held in conjunction with United Way, local postal workers delivered approximately 10,000 pounds of food to CCK.
On its website the NALC says of the program, “Each year, letter carriers across the country head out on their routes on the second Saturday in May to collect donations of non-perishable food items to benefit local food pantries. Since launching in 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping to fill the shelves of food banks in cities and towns throughout the United States.”
CCK Senior Director Javon Daniel told The Tribune, “This is a tremendous boost at the beginning of the summer, because donations slow down in the summer. We want to thank everyone who donated and especially all the postal workers who went the extra mile to collect all this food.”
