STATE TRACK MEET: Edgeworth sets state 1600-Meter record; Locals earn medals in Cullman, Gulf Shores

CULLMAN, Ala. – This year’s state track meets are underway in Cullman and Gulf Shores and our local athletes have already collected an impressive number of medals as well as a new state record. Cold Springs standout Ethan Edgeworth has been posting stellar times all season and he put together another dominant performance in the 2A Boys 1600-Meter Friday. Edgeworth earned the gold medal after running a 4:03.96, the state’s fastest time 1600-Meter time ever recorded. Edgeworth was also part of the Eagles’ 4×800 Meter Relay Team that won gold later in the day with a time of 8:28.77.

Other local winners included Cullman’s Patrick Adcock (161-11) and Adam Byers (190-10) who claimed the 6A Discus and Javelin Throw Championships, respectively in Gulf Shores. Arab’s Bryant Beuoy and Libby Chance each earned gold medals as well. Beuoy won the 5A Boys 400-Meter with a time of 49.69 and Chance placed first in the 5A Girls Pole Vault with a mark of 10-6.00.

Addison’s Ava Bartlett won gold in the 1A Girls High Jump at 5-00.00 and Cold Springs’ Nic Fallin finished first in the 2A Boys Long Jump with a jump of 21-04.75.

Competition will resume in Cullman and Gulf Shores Saturday morning.
