CULLMAN, Ala. – Good Samaritan Health Clinic at a community press conference on Monday, April 22, unveiled plans for its new home, a $2.8 million facility that will be located along Veterans Drive Southwest.

The clinic is almost two-thirds of the way to its $2.8 million goal to build the facility. A portion of the funds was granted by the Appalachian Regional Commission, with both the City of Cullman and Cullman County contributing toward the completion of the new health care facility that will accommodate an additional 3,600 uninsured individuals each year.

Beginning as an acute care facility for low-income and uninsured individuals, the Good Samaritan Health Clinic has expanded far beyond its original reach. The clinic now acts as a primary care office, treating patients with chronic and long-term illnesses and disabilities. Acute and urgent care, dental screenings, mental health services, hearing evaluations and other services are also available through the clinic.

Board Chair Zach Lee shared, “We could not have done this without your help, without the staff’s help, without our boards help, without community supporters and leaders; we appreciate everyone.

“Our goals for the new facility are three-fold. Long-term mission fulfillment: by establishing this new facility, the clinic will be better positioned to fulfill our mission over the long term, ensuring that we can continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve by expanding our reach and impact. Prevention and wellness component: the new facility will allow a prevention and wellness component to our service offerings. The addition of a fitness/cardio room will provide access to exercise facilities thereby empowering our patients to take proactive steps towards their health and well-being, ultimately contributing to a healthier population. Exceptional care for all uninsured residents: the new facility will provide a desirable and exceptional option for all uninsured residents in our community. We are committed to ensuring that quality health care remains accessible to everyone.”

The clinic is almost two-thirds of the way to its $2.8 million goal to build the facility, with $2 million in grants and local funding already promised for the project. The Board of Directors is beginning the task of raising additional funding. To donate or learn more, visit www.goodsamaritancullman.com.
