HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Hanceville Elementary School is reaching out to the community for assistance to replenish its emergency clothing closet. The school has a longstanding program designed to support students who may lack essential items such as properly fitting shoes or appropriate clothing. Given the current shortage, it urgently requires new or lightly used children’s clothing ranging from sizes 4T to 14 for both boys and girls.
The school’s dedicated nurses manage a special room stocked with clothing and essential hygiene items like deodorant, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste. With a growing student population of 645, the need for these resources has increased significantly.
“We love our students and want them to feel like our school is their second home,” said Principal Stacie Olinger. This year, the addition of a washer and dryer has greatly enhanced the school’s ability to care for student needs promptly.
She said Hanceville Elementary views the student body as family, recognizing that many families face challenges and appreciate the school’s supportive efforts. “We are family, and with the help of our community, we want all of our students to feel loved and supported,” she expressed.
Community members who wish to contribute can bring donations of clothing and hygiene products directly to the school office. Every donation can make a significant difference in ensuring that all students have access to the essentials they need to feel comfortable and confident at school.
