CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman has been nominated for the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Small Town Cultural Scene. The annual awards recognize that “Bigger isn’t always better, especially when it comes to these 20 small towns, nominated by an expert panel as the best in the country, and each with a population of fewer than 25,000 people. What each lacks in size, it makes up for in culture: museums, art galleries, performing arts, and plenty of events.” Cullman is currently in third place.

The contest by the national publication describes Cullman: “Situated between Birmingham and Huntsville is this small town that’s full of personality. Here you’ll find one-of-a-kind attractions like the Ave Maria Grotto, a 4-acre park featuring over 100 miniature reproductions of world-famous religious structures, including St. Peter’s Basilica. Other interesting cultural attractions include the Cullman County Museum, 4D Farm, and the Highway Pickers Antique Mall & Flea Market.”

According to USA TODAY, “Nominees are submitted by a panel of experts. 10Best editors narrow the field to select the final set of nominees for the Readers’ Choice Awards. Readers can vote once per category, per day.”

Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Executive Director Nathan Anderson said, “It’s exciting to see the spirit of Cullman’s culture reaching beyond our local borders, earning a well-deserved nomination for the 10Best Small Town Cultural Scene by USA TODAY. This accolade reflects our community’s dedication to fostering an environment where attractions, parks, museums and cultural events not only thrive but draw hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.”

Readers can vote once per day at  https://10best.usatoday.com/awards/travel/best-small-town-cultural-scene-2024 through Monday, April 1, at noon ET. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, April 10.

Anderson said he hopes readers will join him in voting for Cullman as the town inches closer to the top of the poll, imploring, “We invite everyone to support Cullman by casting their votes, helping us climb even higher on USA TODAY’s 10Best Small Town Cultural Scene list.”
