ARKADELPHIA – Multiple agencies are currently fighting a wildfire just east of County Road 35 in southwest Cullman County. The fire has been burning since approximately 3 p.m. The fire is near the Cullman and Blount County line.

According to Dion Taylor with Cullman County Fire Dispatch, volunteer fire departments from Logan, Colony, Garden City, Cold Springs, Arkadelphia, Dodge City, Bremen and Crane Hill are actively fighting the fire, along with the Alabama Forestry Commission.

Reports from the field are that the forestry commission was called in when the fire reached the treetops, and no trucks could be brought in.

As of now, firefighters are stationed up and down County Road 35, attempting to keep the fire contained so that it does not jump the road. There are reports that the fire is jumping the road several spots.

This is a developing story.
