CULLMAN – If you are looking for something to do in Cullman tonight, you are in luck! There are a handful of events happening, in addition to the regular Oktoberfest festivities.
Two German dinners are available, one at The Busy Bee Cafe and the other at Christ Lutheran Church. After dinner, head out to catch a live performance of Disney's "The Lion King, Jr." at Cullman High School or slip into your dirndl or lederhosen and hit the Cullman Civic Center for the Oktoberfest Burgermeister Ball.
The Busy Bee, located at 101 Fifth St. SE, will be serving authentic German food from 5-9 p.m. The menu includes many different sausage and schnitzel platters, as well as delicious German sides and desserts, along with a selection of beers and wine.
Christ Lutheran Church, at 424 Second Ave. SE, will have smoked pulled pork dinners with sauerkraut, German potato salad, green beans, roll and dessert. The pork will be catered by Whole Hog Express, with sides catered by Augusta’s Sports Grill. Tickets were sold in advance, but a limited quantity will still be available at the door. The cost to attend is $10.
After you've had your fill of your favorite German foods, choose between seeing the show or attending the ball.
In the Cullman High School auditorium, 510 13th St. NE, the CCS and Cullman Theatre's production of Disney's "The Lion King, Jr." will start at 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. (If you miss the show Friday night, don't worry, there's also a 7 p.m. show Saturday evening.)
Feeling spry? Then the Oktoberfest Burgermeister Ball is probably your pick. The ball kicks off at the Cullman Civic Center (510 Fifth St. SW) at 7 p.m. and goes until 11 p.m.
Tickets are $15 and the dress attire is business casual to semi-formal. You can pick up your tickets at the Cullman County Museum, Cullman Civic Center or the retail tent at Oktoberfest.
Music will be provided by Terry Cavanagh and the Alpine Express. The ball will also include a Grand March.
Whichever events you choose, Viel Spaß! (have fun!)
