WEST POINT, Ala. – West Point kicked off its soccer season at home against Danville Thursday night and the Warriors got things started with a 10-0 win over the Hawks. Josh Shannon (two assists) and Jacob Bencze (one assist) led the way for West Point, scoring three goals apiece in the win. Wyatt Lindsey (assist), Omar Segundo, Chance Aldridge (assist) and Hayden Hogan each scored as well. Sal Flores recorded two assists and Deacon Lindsey finished with one assist.
Warriors Head Coach Jacob Brown was pleasantly surprised by his team’s season-opening performance.
“I honestly didn’t expect that. We came out hard and I am very proud of them,” Brown said. “We have a lot to work on and a lot of season to play. We’re looking forward to a great season.”
The Lady Warriors played their season opener against Danville Thursday night as well, playing the Hawks to a 4-4 draw. Hope Lee posted three goals for West Point and Georgia Metrock finished with one goal.
West Point will remain home to play Jasper Tuesday night.
