CULLMAN, Ala. – Those brave enough to test the wintry waters at WildWater will take part in Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism’s annual Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday morning, Jan. 20. By diving into the glacial outdoor pool, participants will be able to start the year with a splash, enjoy an opportunity to give back to Special Olympics of Alabama and possibly win big in the process with a four-pack of season passes to WildWater and a family membership to the Cullman Wellness and Aquatic Center up for grabs.
Registration for the plunge is free, but organizers encourage plungers to warm their hearts after a chilly dip and give to Special Olympics of Alabama at the event. WildWater General Manager Michael Schwitek said his team will be welcoming participants from all over north Alabama to show their support for Special Olympics of Alabama and continue fostering an inclusive environment for athletes with disabilities.
“Our annual Polar Bear Plunge is a fun and exhilarating way to support Special Olympics of Alabama,” smiled Schwitek, who said all eyes will be on the prizes.
The Polar Bear Plunge is set for Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at 10 a.m. Registration is open now. The event is free, with an optional donation to Special Olympics of Alabama requested. WildWater is located at 1707 Main Ave. SW.
