ADDISON, Ala. – Addison hosted the Meek Tigers, who just happen to be their closest rivals being just ten miles south of them and the night was good for both the home girls’ and boys’ teams. The girls came away with a dominant 58-42 win. It was by far the best that the young Lady Bulldogs have looked all year. The boys’ game was close except for one period where Addison took command. Addison completed the sweep by beating the Tigers 66-55.
Addison 58 – Meek 42 (Varsity Girls)
The Addison Lady Bulldogs may be growing up before your very eyes as they played their most complete game of the year while facing immense foul trouble through most of the second half. These young ladies are getting better by the game. Addison started out strong as they outscored the Lady Tigers 14-8 in the first period. Addison’s Karson Wyatt led the Dawgs with 8 points and 3 steals. Ava Bartlett helped out with 3 points and 4 rebounds. Not to be outdone, Emma Cleghorn chipped in 3 points as well. Meek was led by Addisyn Williams’ deep three-pointer and Peyton Johnson’s 7 rebounds.
The second period may have been Addison’s best stretch of play all year. Addison ran their offense well and played excellent defense. They outscored the Lady Tigers 20-7 to take a 34-15 lead at the half. Addison Senior Point Guard Hadley Butler caught fire as she dropped in 11 points. Tiny guard Gracie Roberts had 5 points of her own. Meek’s A. Williams had 3 points to lead the Lady Tigers. Zoe Hearn had 4 rebounds to help the Lady Tigers on the glass.
The third period had Meek playing better and Addison going through just a bit of a lull. Addison won the period 13-11 in a period that was fairly evenly matched. Addison distributed the scoring among four girls with Bartlett leading the way with 4 points. Butler, Roberts and Wyatt (sounds like a Law Firm) each drained a three-pointer for the Lady Bulldogs. Meek was led by A. Williams with 5 points while Johnson had 3 points. Laney Phillips had 4 rebounds to lead the Lady Tigers.
Addison went into the fourth and final period leading 47-26.
The fourth period had Meek improving their defense and Addison making a few mistakes. Meek won the period 16-11 but the Lady Tigers could not complete the comeback as they dropped the game 58-42. Addison was led by their guard tandem of Butler and Roberts who each had 4 points. Wyatt grabbed 4 boards to lead Addison. Meek was led by five different players who scored. Phillips, Aleah Addison and Chloe Gilliland all had 4 points. Hearn and Johnson had 2 rebounds apiece for Meek.

“Tonight we played our best game. We scored a season high in points and we finally played together. The girls were just clicking out there tonight. We started doing the little things that good teams have to do to win. Our intensity was great and now we will see if we can carry this same style when we host area foe Sumiton Christian on Tuesday night.”

Bartlett had 11 points, 12 boards, 2 assists and 2 steals. Cleghorn had 3 points and 2 boards. Mattie Johnson had 2 points and 5 rebounds.
Meek was led by A. Williams with 13 points and 3 rebounds. Phillips had 10 points and 6 boards. Gilliland had 7 points and 2 boards. Addison had 5 points. Johnson had 5 points and 12 rebounds. Hearn had 2 points and 6 boards. Riley Williams had 1 rebound.
Addison will host Sumiton Christian on Tuesday at 4:30 pm. Meek will host Carbon Hill at 5pm on Tuesday.
Addison 66 – Meek 55 (Varsity Boys)
Addison and Meeks’ Boy’s teams have developed quite the little rivalry lately. When these two teams meet, they play hard, and the games can sometimes get a little chippy. Tonight was no exception as 2 technical fouls were called. The first period opened up with Addison getting a 10-2 lead but the fellows from Meek got their footing and roared back to cut the lead down to 12-10. Addison’s Jed Wilkins nailed a three-pointer to close out the period and give Addison the 15-10 lead at the end of the first. Elijah Roberts led the Bulldogs with 6 points while his cousin, Wilkins chipped in 5 points of his own. Meek was led by Jarrett Benson who had 4 points while Braxton Dickerson and Evan McCay each drained a three-pointer.
Meek and Addison played fairly evenly in the second period until Meek went on a nice run at the end of the period leading into the half. Meek won the period 16-8 and carried a close 26-23 lead into the half. Addison was leading 23-17 with 1:34 left in the half when Dickerson got red hot from three land. Dickerson sank two long threes in the span of one minute and then with the score tied at 23, Cam Deaver drilled a deep corner three with only ten seconds left in the half to give Meek the 26-23 lead. That is how the score would remain till halftime. Addison was led by Wilkins who single handedly kept them close as he had 6 points, 4 rebounds and a block in the period. Meek was led by Dickerson who had 8 points in the period.
Meek went into the half with the momentum and Addison snatched it right back to start the third period. Addison’s defense took it up a notch as the Bulldogs rolled the Tigers 24-10 to take the 47-36 lead going into the fourth period. Addison got started by getting their big man Bradley Willette involved as he had two buckets in the paint. Addison’s Jake McLamb was scorching hot from three land, as he nailed two three-pointers on back-to-back possessions. Roberts hit a floater and then McLamb “Seth Curried” another bomb to give Addison a 45-34 lead. While McLamb would drain 4 three-pointers in the period, Willette controlled the middle with 4 boards and a block. Wilkins was dishing out the assists as he had 5 for just the third period alone. Meek had Dickerson and McCay trying to keep pace as they drilled a trey apiece.
The fourth period was full of action as Meek tried to play catch up but they just couldn’t get closer than double digits. Each team dropped in 19 points in the frame and Addison came away with the 66-55 victory. McLamb had 7 more points while Kiah Lake had 6 points in the paint. Meek was led by Dickerson who is a sharpshooter from the corner as he hit two treys for 6 points. Benson and Parker Ferguson had 4 points each.

“My guys just don’t quit. Meek had us on the ropes there for a while and when they went on that big run, we just played through it. We never gave up or got down on ourselves. We had some foul trouble but played through it. I am extremely proud of our bench. They don’t get alot of recognition but it’s a different person every night. One of them guys is always coming up big in a key spot for us. Tonight, it was Kiah (Lake). This win pretty much puts us in the driver’s seat for the area and the County so we just have to keep doing what we are doing and we will be alright.”
