Obituary: Elaine “Duck” Estes Cox

Elaine “Duck” Estes Cox, 85, was granted her wings on Nov. 26, 2023 at Shelby Baptist Medical Hospital surrounded by her family.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cox will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. The graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church and Cemetery in Hamilton, Alabama. Chad Rutherford will be officiating with Nathan Harbison speaking. Visitation for the public will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday prior to the service at Hanceville Funeral Home.

Elaine “Duck” grew up on a farm and had a little formal education, but she lived life and acquired knowledge from life experiences which made her the wonderful, amazing woman she became and posted forward.  Elaine “Duck” will remain with us in our hearts and souls.

Elaine “Duck” was predeceased by her parents, brothers, sister, child, and husband Olin.

Elaine is survived by children, Kathy Diane Harbison, Annette Miller (Steve), Jeanette Quattlebaum (Mike), Juanita Marchant (Rex), Patsy Ann Goodwin (Joe); grandchildren, Nathan Harbison (Jenifer), TJ Heatherly (Julie), David Quattlebaum (Veronica), Charlie Harbison, Matthew Quattlebaum, Joesph Goodwin, Rachel Harbison, Stacy Harbison, Tiffany Johnson (AJ), Morgan Rutherford (Chad), Stevie Brooks (Keith), Tabitha Wright (Lawson); great-grandchildren, Jordan Heatherly, Jazmine Scruggs, Peyton Heatherly, Katie Heatherly, Jaylen Britton, Mason Rutherford, Easton Johnson, Jonah Hardin, Carter Rutherford, Kayson Johnson, Frederick Quattlebaum; future great-grandchild, Caroline Rayne Brooks.

Mrs. Cox’s grandsons will have the honor of serving as her pallbearers.
