VINEMONT, Ala. – The countdown to Christmas is on, and the Town of South Vinemont has announced plans for a brand new holiday event. Vinemont’s inaugural Tinsel Trail will be set up at the Art Park, located behind the Vinemont Community Center. The Town is searching for sponsors for the holiday display.
A Tinsel Trail is traditionally a collection of decorated Christmas trees in one venue, on display and available for the public to enjoy. Sponsors can bring joy, light and beauty to the community, all by doing something as simple as decorating a Christmas tree.
“We are so excited about adding a Tinsel Trail this year, it’s going to be so fun. It will be on our walking trail at our Art Park, next to the new benches we have,” said Vinemont Town Clerk Kayecea Sasser.
Art Park has undergone a massive makeover in recent years. Renovations included new playground equipment, metal animal cut-out statues made by local business Vinemont Welding and Fabrication, a volleyball court and an upgraded walking path, as well as benches alongside the path marked as memorials of lost loved ones. Sasser said she hopes locals who have a loved one’s name on a memorial bench may consider sponsoring a spot on the Tinsel Trail.
“We’re hoping those that have a bench already may want to put up and decorate a tree next to it, to honor that person,” she said. “If you don’t have a loved one with a bench, this is a great way to promote your business.”
Sponsorships are $100 if the Town provides the tree, or $25 if the sponsor provides his or her own tree. Sponsors are responsible for providing their own 10-foot outdoor extension cord. Lights and lighted accessories must be LED and be able to withstand prolonged outdoor weather. Setup will take place Dec. 1-6; trees will be taken down Jan. 2-8.
