TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama coaching staff named 10 players of the week following the Crimson Tide’s 49-21 win at Kentucky last Saturday. Malik Benson, Isaiah Bond, Jalen Hale, Kendrick Law and Kobe Prentice on offense; Chris Braswell, Jihaad Campbell and Jaheim Oatis on defense; and James Burnip and Jam Miller on special teams were all selected for their efforts against the Wildcats.
OFFENSE
- Got the starting nod against the Wildcats
- Totaled one reception for 15 yards, picking up a first down to extend UA’s offensive drive that resulted in a touchdown
- Hauled in two receptions for 24 yards while adding one rush for a gain of three
- Converted two first downs with a long reception of 17 on the day
- The freshman wideout hauled in one reception for 51 yards, picking up 36 yards after the catch
- The chunk play late in the fourth quarter picked up a first down on third-and-long to extend UA’s scoring drive
- Caught one pass for a gain of 11 and a Tide first down
- Added 52 yards on his two kickoff returns with a long of 26
- Caught four of his five targets for 74 yards and a touchdown
- Led all wideouts in receiving yards and catches while tying for the team-high mark for scores
- Scored from 40 yards out for the Tide’s second touchdown of the day
DEFENSE
- Provided consistent pressure off the edge all day against the Wildcats
- Recorded a pair of tackles, including half a sack (-5 yards), while adding one quarterback hurry
- The inside linebacker was all over the field as Alabama laid claim to the SEC Western Division title
- Registered five total tackles, including one for loss (-1 yard)
- Also contributed one quarterback hurry and a pass breakup
- Led the Alabama defense in production points in the road victory over the Wildcats
- Registered two total tackles, including half a tackle for loss (-2 yards)
- Added one quarterback hurry as a part of a Tide defense that limited Kentucky to just 21 yards rushing before the Alabama reserves took over late in the fourth quarter
SPECIAL TEAMS
- Called on to punt three times against Kentucky, accumulating 136 yards with a long punt of 55
- Averaged 45.3 yards per punt, pinning the Wildcat offense inside the 20 on two of his three punts
- Continued his consistent play on special teams for UA
- Recorded one solo stop on the Tide’s kickoff coverage unit
- Added 11 rushing yards and a touchdown from his running back post
