HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College Volleyball will compete for a 14th conference title in 15 seasons and 24th overall in the Alabama Community College Conference/National Junior College Gulf South District Tournament this weekend in Mobile.

Standing in first place in the North Division, the Lions’ first game of the tournament will be Friday at 11 a.m., against either Bishop State or Coastal Alabama. Games in the double elimination tournament will continue through Sunday at the Mobile Civic Center.

Wallace State finished their regular season with a 39-4 overall record and 12-0 in the conference. They are ranked 16th in the nation in the NJCAA Division II Volleyball poll. For the season, the team also continued a long-standing streak of wins at home against conference opponents with 135 wins dating back to 2008.

During the season, Makayla Lindsey of Winston County, Anna Claire Hutto of Lawrence County, Braelee Quinn of West Point and Lexi Weber of Alexandria were each selected as ACCC Players of the Week. Quinn stands at the top of the conference leaderboard in kills, while Lindsey leads in digs.

The 2023 season also marked Coach Randy Daniel’s 600th career win, with a current record of 630-125 in 17 seasons with the Lions.

“My team has worked very hard to earn the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament and I’m very proud of each of them for their dedication and effort to our program,” Daniel said. “I’m very fortunate to have a team with such great character and work ethic! We know we have a challenge ahead of us for the conference tournament, but I expect this group to battle like they have all season long. I’m especially proud of the sophomores for leading this team by example and being a positive role model for our freshmen, this has created an amazing team to coach because collectively we have great chemistry and genuinely love each other.”
